3-Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

Your 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga begins with a pickup from your hotel early in the morning. We’ll head south through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, stopping along the way for photos and panoramic views.

Next, we’ll stop at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a historic UNESCO World Heritage site. Many famous films were shot here, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After that, you’ll have free time to walk through the old streets and explore.

We then continue through Ouarzazate and the Rose Valley toward Dades Valley. In the evening, we reach your hotel where you’ll enjoy dinner and rest for the night.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert

Your Merzouga desert adventure begins after breakfast. We’ll drive to Todra Gorge, a dramatic canyon where walls rise high above the narrow path. Here, you’ll have time to walk through the gorge and enjoy the cool air.

Along the way to Merzouga, we’ll stop for lunch. The road then passes through Erfoud and into the Sahara. We reach Merzouga in the afternoon, where you’ll meet your camel guide at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes.

In the evening, you’ll ride a camel across the golden dunes and watch the sunset over the desert. Back at camp, you’ll check in to your private tent. After dinner, relax by the fire and listen to live Berber music under the stars.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

We suggest waking up early to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast at camp, you’ll ride the camel back to the village before we begin the drive back to Marrakech.

Along the way, we’ll stop in Ouarzazate for lunch and cross the High Atlas Mountains one more time. We’ll make photo stops at scenic viewpoints as we head north.
